Djibouti is becoming just other banana republic
According to La Nation, a ceremony of signing the amendments on bilateral assistance agreements between the Republic of Djibouti and the Government of the United States of America was held in the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Well Piggy regime can amend the bilateral relationship with US, and keep amending until the Representative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Djibouti Ms. Stephanie Funk becomes the invisible head of the state of Djibouti.
The US pledges a total amount of 7 million dollars on a four different major areas health, education, democracy and good governance without any detail information as how that aid (may not necessarily be good old cash) be allocated to these major areas.
“The Minister of International Cooperation, Mr. Ahmed Silay, reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Djibouti to work fully with all technical and financial partners, particularly USAID, to promote real development socially and economically.” The minister conveniently opted out the democracy and good governance the other main pillars that are crucial for the development of any nation.
We know that there is lots of scam going on in Djibouti. One would ask himself or herself where is the money that the USAID agencies requested on behave of Djibouti to promote democracy? click here. The project was approved despite the fundamental change on the ground, the substantial portion of that money is missing or the fund has already been misused.
The speech of the U.S. Ambassador, Mr. James Swan indicates a lot of foot soldiers that have lined up in every department of the Piggy’s administration. U.S. Ambassador, Mr. James Swan also hinted that these agreements will promote interdisciplinary essential to answer fundamental questions of development of Djibouti, however the fundamental development includes democracy and good governance what that would mean remains to be seen, in other word will the US walk the walk than talk the talk?
